We're do we see the lasting legacy of the west African culture in our modern society?
Liula [17]

Answer:

A year before the Pilgrims made their famed journey to New England, signing the “Mayflower Compact” and thus inaugurating so many of the myths that we believe about our democratic origins, a very different ship disembarked in that older English colony to the south, Jamestown. Aug. 20, 1619, marked the arrival of 20 enslaved Africans in English North America, “bought for victuale … at the best and easiest rate they could” as recorded by the tobacco planter John Rolfe (Pocahontas’s husband), some 15 months before the Mayflower supposedly landed near Plymouth Rock.

8. What was Henry Johnson's life like when he returned after the war?
LUCKY_DIMON [66]

Answer:

William Henry Johnson (circa July 15, 1892 – July 1, 1929), commonly known as Henry Johnson, was a United States Army soldier who performed heroically in the first African American unit of the United States Army to engage in combat in World War I. On watch in the Argonne Forest on May 14, 1918, he fought off a German raid in hand-to-hand combat, killing multiple German soldiers and rescuing a fellow soldier while experiencing 21 wounds, in an action that was brought to the nation's attention by coverage in the New York World and The Saturday Evening Post later that year. On June 2, 2015 he was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Barack Obama in a posthumous ceremony at the White House.

In 1918, racism against African Americans was common among white U.S. soldiers in the U.S. military, but French attitudes differed. Johnson was recognized by the French with a Croix de guerre with star and bronze palm, and was the first U.S. soldier in World War I to receive that honor.

Johnson died, poor and in obscurity, in 1929. From 1919 on, Henry Johnson's story has been part of wider consideration of treatment of African Americans in the Great War. There was a long struggle to achieve awards for him from the U.S. military. He was finally awarded the Purple Heart in 1996. In 2002, the U.S. military awarded him the Distinguished Service Cross. Previous efforts to secure the Medal of Honor failed, but in 2015 he was posthumously honored with the award.

Describe the function of theology as mediator and interpreter. Give an example of a current event or situation that could benefi
Naddika [18.5K]

Answer:

Theology can function as both mediator and interpreter as it serves to both translate and interpret the sources for the public making the meaning more easy for the present-day generation.

Explanation:

'Christian Thought And Practice: A Primer' is a theological book written by Natalie Kertes Weaver. The book is a synthesis on Christian theology and Christian Practices.

In this book, the author has discussed theology as both a mediator and an interpreter. According to Natalie, theology has been derived from Greek word 'theo-logia' which means God-talk. So, theology is can said to be a thought or talks about God.

According to Natalie, theology functions as both mediator and interpreter as it serves as a translation and interpretion of the sources, for instance the Bible, and make it easier for present-day public to understand the meaning of traditions.

The current situation that could be benefitted from the mediation of theology will be studying the 'church' and how an online forum be allowed in the institution of churches.
