Answer:

The number of baseball card to begin with is 143

Step-by-step explanation:

Let The number of baseball cards = x

The number of sold baseball card = 60% of x

                                                         = 0.6 x

The number of left baseball card = x - 0.6 x = 0.4 x

The number of card gave away = 30 % of left cards

                                                     = 0.3 × 0.4 x = 0.12 x

The number of card left in his possession = 40

So, 0.6 x + 0.12 x + 40 = x

Or,  40 = x - 0.6 x - 0.12 x

Or,  40 = 0.28 x

∴   x = \frac{40}{0.28}  =  142.85 ≈ 143

Hence The number of baseball card to begin with is 143  Answer

Which of the following is the graph of y = 1/x+2 +1
Naya [18.7K]

Answer:

The graph of the function has vertical asymptote at x=-2

and horizontal asymptote at y=-1.

Step-by-step explanation:

The graph of the given function:

f(x)=\dfrac{1}{x+2}+1

has a vertical as well as horizontal asymptote at some points.

( An asymptote is a line or curve that approaches a given curve arbitrarily closely

for example  1/x, which has a vertical asymptote at  x=0 and a horizontal asymptote at y=0 )

The vertical asymptote of a graph is at x=-2

and horizontal asymptote at y=-1

What is the solution to the system of equations?
Kobotan [32]

So for this, I will be using the elimination method. So firstly, multiply both sides of the first equation by 2 and both sides of the second equation by 3:

\left \{ {{8x-6y=52} \atop {9x+6y=33}} \right.

Now add the two equations to get 17x=85 . From here you can solve for x. For this, just divide both sides by 17, and your first answer will be x=5

Now that we have the value of x, substitute it into either equation to solve for y:

4*5-3y=26\\ 20-3y=26\\ -3y=6\\ y=-2\\ \\ 3*5+2y=11\\ 15+2y=11\\ 2y=-4\\ y=-2

<h3><u>In short, x = 5 and y = -2.</u></h3>
