What is the purpose of a continuing resolution?

Business
1 answer:
tangare [24]4 years ago

Answer:

to set federal government spending at the same level as the year before

Explanation:

Generally a continuing resolution is passed by Congress if the national budget is not yet approved or agreed upon. The budget must be approved every year with an appropriations law, but sometimes the process is delayed.  Then Congress generally passes a continuing resolution to make sure that federal agencies' budgets will not be affected, and that they can continue to operate with the same budget as the previous year until the current year's budget is approved.

If Congress didn't pass the continuous resolution, the government agencies would not be able to function because they lack funds.

Assume that you would like to purchase 100 shares of preferred stock that pays an annual dividend of $6.00 per share. However, y
butalik [34]

Answer:

$267.1211

Explanation:

return on preference share per unit is $6  , thus at 12% annual rate of return. Initial value of preference shares will be $50 per unit ( $6 divided by 12%).

Total value of preference shares = $50 multiplied by 100 preference shares = $5000

Future value of preference shares = 5000 (1.12)^5  = $8,811.7084

to find the value of money to be deposited to be able to buy the preference shares at the end of 5 yrs.

we work back to get the present value using the mutual fund annual rate

$8811.7084 = pv (1.06)^60  the rate is compounded monthly. Hence we shall compound the return 60 times in 5 years

Bank account money = 8811.7084  divided by 32.9877 = $267.1211

Dawson Toys, Ltd., produces a toy called the Maze. The company has recently established a standard cost system to help control c
N76 [4]

Direct material price is the cost of the raw materials and components used to create a product. The materials must be easily identifiable with the resulting product otherwise they are considered to be joint costs.

A Consider the data provided to compute the price and quantity variances for

direct materials in the following manner:

Standard price = $1.50 per micron

Standard quantity = 3,000 toys x 6 microns =18,000

Actual price = $1.48 per micron

Actual quantity = 25,000 microns

Actual quantity used = (25.000-5.000) microns = 20,000 microns

   Direct materials price variance

Actual quantity « (Standard price — Actual price)

25,000 microns x($1.50-$1.48)

$500 (Favorable)

Direct materials quantity variance = Standard price » (Standard quantity — Actual quantity)

$1.50x(18,000-20,000 microns)

-$3,000( Unfavorable)

Therefore, the price and quantity variances for direct materials is 500(Favorable),

and $3,000(Unfavorable) respectively.
