Answer:

The invasion of Poland by the Wehrmacht forces in 1939 was the beginning of World War II in Europe. On September 1, the German Air Force suddenly attacked Poland, without any previous announcement of the war by bombing many places in many parts of the country. Airstrikes were directed at Polish airports, factories, and traffic, to prevent mobilization and concentration of troops and isolation of Polish armies on the border front. Within two days, the German Air force completely conquered the sky over Poland and destroyed over half of the Polish planes. The military operations ended on October 6, and on October 8, Germany annexed western Poland and the city of Danzig.

Britain and France appeased Hitler because they wanted to avoid another World War. Although Hitler started to build a new army, he stopped paying the reparation, reoccupied Rhineland, that was taken from Germany, and joined German forces with Austria, Britain, and France did nothing, because of the Treaty of Versailles and their intentions to preserve world peace.

Explanation:

World War II was avoidable. If there had existed a consensus between France and Britain to confront Hitler at the moment they realized Hitler was preparing a rearmament program.

In 1939, Hitler had an army that was only slightly stronger than the Polish army and weaker than the French or British army, and neither had a fleet, nor strategic resources (especially its own oil resources). Therefore, Germany could not wage a longer continental war.

The War became inevitable only when Chamberlain gave guarantees to Poland. That’s why Hitler’s demands for Poland were very soft.

Briefly explain ONE difference between the role of the federal government in the United States economy during the Gilded Age and
dimulka [17.4K]

During the Gilded Age, federal role was limited to development of agriculture and giving financial support to companies involved in railroad system. They had little role in business.

During 1930s, role of federal increased substantially. They started to take call in business and think about taking the economy out of depression.

Explanation:

US saw Gilded Age after the American Civil War. During this period, there was rapid increase in industrialization. Railroads were built during this time.

Small industries became big.

However, during this time, there was an increase in corruption. Economy was dominated by few individuals and people used to work for them only.

In 1930s, there was global crisis and it resulted in great depression which started from United States. In US, it was crash of stock market which led economy to drop drastically by end of 1929.

During this time, the federal government started to take active steps to overcome this.

During this time, Herbert Hoover was the President. He started releasing more of federal funds for public projects and asked employers not to do wage cut for their workers.
