No, many people are still opposed to immigrants and many immigrants are still discriminated against. And to become a full fledged citizen of the United States is not that easy, many people not being able to and staying here illegally.

4. By the late 17th century, Virginia's and Maryland's economic and social structure rested on the great planters and the yeoman farmers. The planters of the tidewater region, supported by slave labor, held most of the political power and the best land.

5. The southern colonies were made up of mostly coastal plains and piedmont areas. The soil was good for farming and the climate was warm, including hot summers and mild winters. The growing season here was longer than any other region.
