Answer: 4 tickets for children under 12.

Step-by-step explanation:

A is the number of adults, S is the number of students and C is the number of children.

We have the equations:

1)  A + S + C = 24.

2) A = 2*C

3) A*$15 + S*$10 + C*$5 = $260

So we have 3 equations and 3 variables.

First, we can replace A in both of the other equations.

1) 2*C + S + C = 24

   S + 3*C = 24

and

3)  (2*C)*$15 + S*$10 + C*$5 = $260

    C*($30 + $5) + S*$10 = $260

    C*$35 + S*$10 = $260

Now, we should isolate S in the first equation, and get:

1) S = 24 - 3*C

now we can replace it on the other equation:

3) C*$35 + S*$10 = $260

   C*$35 + (24 - 3*C)*$10 = $260

   C*($35 - $30) + $240 = $260

   C*$5 = $20

    C = 20/5 = 4

So we have 4 children.

Find a4 for the arithmetic series with S4=-36 and a1=9
erastova [34]

ANSWER

The 4th term is -27

EXPLANATION

The sum of the first n-terms of an arithmetic sequence is

S_n= \frac{n}{2} (2a_1+d(n-1))

It was given that,

S_4 =  - 36

a_1 = 9

- 36= \frac{ 4}{2} (2 \times 9+d(4-1))

-36=2(18+3d)

-18=18+3d

-18 - 18 = 3d

3d =  - 36

d =  - 12

The n-term is given by:

a_n=a_1+ (n-1)d

We substitute n=4 to get,

a_4=9+ (4-1)  \times -12

a_4=9+ 3\times -12

a_4=9 - 36

a_4= - 27

Solve cos x + rad 2 = -cos x for over the interval [0, 2pi ]
Kamila [148]
cos x + \sqrt{2} = -cosx \\  \\ 2 cos x + \sqrt{2} = 0 \\  \\ cos x = -\frac{\sqrt{2}}{2}

The cosine function is negative in 2nd and 3rd quadrants, So you know that you will have 2 solutions. One between pi/2 and pi, the other between pi and 3pi/2.

Refer to a unit circle to find that
cos (\frac{3\pi}{4}) = -\frac{\sqrt{2}}{2}  \\  \\ cos (\frac{5\pi}{4}) = -\frac{\sqrt{2}}{2}

Final Answer:
x = \frac{3\pi}{4}, \frac{5\pi}{4}

Christine's middle school has a total of 900 students and 45 teachers . The local high school has 110 teachers & a student-t
qaws [65]

Answer:

2,200 students

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the number of students, create a proportion which is two equal ratios. Since the middle school and the high school are proportional then they have equal ratios.

\frac{students}{teachers}= \frac{900}{45}=\frac{x}{110}

Solve for x by cross multiplying by multiplying the numerator and denominator of each fraction.

900(110) = 45(x)

99,000=45x

2,200 = x
