Answer:

D.  It showed Kennedy’s confidence and calm in a high-pressure situation.

Explanation:

The Cuban missile crisis of 1962 is the closest the US and the USSR, and the world with them, came to nuclear war. For the US, the threat of having Soviet nuclear missiles fully operational just less than one hundred miles from the coasts of Florida was utterly unacceptable. After the discovery of the missile site in Cuba, the Kennedy administration issued a serious warning to the Soviet Union and Cuba. Fortunately, a deal was reached between the White House and the Kremlin, and the Soviet top leader Nikita Khrushchev agreed to withdraw the missiles and nuclear bombers from Cuba. The international stature and image of president JFK  were elevated by the affair.

Nikitich [7]
After World War 2 Germany was dived into half. The western half was under American control and the Eastern half was under Russian control. Berlin lay in the Western half and was divided between Russia and America, meaning that East Berlin was an island of Russian controlled Germany surrounded by areas under American control. Russia was a communist country and people from East Berlin tried to flee to West Berlin and so the Berlin Wall was built to stop this.Until the east Germans were rescued by pink Floyd!
