The size of a cell does not increase with the size of a body however; the number of cells are directly proportional to the size of a body. Bigger a body, more cells it contains.

A cell size is limited by a cell’s surface area to volume ratio.

Joe, a hiker, stands at the top of a hill on a trail above the ocean. Joe's friend Dave is just starting out at the trailhead, w
Rashid [163]

Answer: 1, 2, 4 are accurate.

Explanation:

1. Joe is on a hill (on a trail) above the ocean. The beach and ocean are at similar altitudes. Therefore Joe is at a higher altitude than if he was at the beach.

2. Since Joe is on a hill, he has a higher altitude than at sea level. Air at a higher altitude has lower density because there is less air "ontop" of itself than at lower altitudes. As well, his hill is above the ocean, which means there is a lot of water, making the air more humid than where he is. Humidity also makes air denser.

4.The air pressure will decrease if Joe goes up to higher altitudes because there will be less air on top of itself.

As with all multicellular organisms, homeotic genes in plants control morphogenesis (how the tissues and organs of the plant are
joja [24]

Answer:

a. True

b. True

c. False

d. True

e. False

f. False

g. True

Explanation:

The homeotic genes refer to evolutionarily conserved genes that modulate the development of different structures in organisms of the same groups (in this case, plants).  Moreover, homeobox genes are genes that encode transcription factors involved in the regulation of development in eukaryotic organisms. The knotted1 (<em>kn1</em>) gene is a plant homeobox gene is a member of the <em>kn1</em> homeobox (<em>knox</em>) gene family, which is responsible for maintaining indeterminacy and preventing cellular differentiation. In maize, <em>kn1</em> plays a key role in maintaining the cells of the shoot apical meristem in an undifferentiated state, being mainly expressed in shoot meristems during postembryonic stages of shoot development. It has been observed that maize mutant plants where <em>kn1</em> is ectopically expressed (i.e., in tissues in which this gene is not normally expressed) exhibit proximal-distal patterning defects.
