Drag each example to the correct location on the table. Identify whether the changes to biodiversity are natural or due to human

intervention. A species of wasp is outcompeted by several other species and goes extinct. A species of wildflower goes extinct after land is cleared for agriculture. A population of grubs decreases as the population of moles, a predator of grubs, increases. Three populations of migratory fish decline after the construction of a hydroelectric dam. The number of offspring produced by a population of frogs decreases after pesticides enter their pond. A mass extinction occurs after several volcanic eruptions.

1. A species of wasp is outcompeted by several other species and goes extinct; Natural causes.

2. A species of wildflower goes extinct after land is cleared for agriculture; Human intervention.

3. A population of grubs decreases as the population of moles, a predator of the grubs, increases; Natural causes.

4. Three populations of migratory fish decline after the construction of a hydroelectric dam; Human intervention.

5. The number of offspring produced by a population of frogs decreases after pesticides enter their pond. Human intervention.

6. A mass extinction occurs after several volcanic eruptions; Natural causes.

The changes in biodiversity can be influenced both, by the humans and their activity, and the natural events that are taking place on our planet. Throughout the geologic history, lots of natural events. like asteroid collisions, super-volcano eruptions, changes in the composition of the atmosphere etc, have resulted in the dying out of millions of species, and even though this process of natural selection continues, it is not the dominant cause anymore. Nowadays, the biggest cause of loss and changes of biodiversity is the human activity. Lots of living organism have lost their habitats and food sources and went extinct because of the human activity, and also some species have died out or are on the verge of extinction because of the introduction of non-native species to certain places, and that has been devastating to the local wildlife.

Answer:

1. Malonyl CoA

2. Inhibits

3.fatty acil CoA

4. Carboxylase

5. Insulin

6. Synthesis

7. Glucagon

8. Oxidation

Explanation:

the oxidation of the mitochondria is blocked by the entry of fatty acid units, a reaction produced by stopping the carnitine acetyl transferase mediated by Malonyl CoA

A key intermediate in fatty acid synthesis ——-Malonyl CoA—-inhibits —-carnitine acyltransferase I, thereby blocking the entry of fatty acyl units into the mitochondrion for oxidation.

The substrates for fatty acid oxidation, ——Fatty acyl CoAs ——-, inhibit fatty acid synthesis by interfering with the polymerization of acetyl-CoA ——carboxylase ——.

Hormonal effects on adipocytes are opposed:——- Insulin ——-promotes fatty acid ———-synthesis ——-by several mechanisms;——Glucagon ——promotes fat breakdown and fatty acid ——Oxidation ——

geniusboy [140]

The given question is incorrect or misspelled, the correct question is:

A substance, such as auxin, that is produced by a plant and affects how the plant grows and develops is best called a(n).

Answer:

The correct answer is a plant hormone.

Explanation:

A hormone generated at the tip of the stem of the plant, which encourages cell elongation is known as auxin. Thus, auxin is a plant hormone that gets shift towards the plant's darker side and makes the cells to develop in a bigger size in comparison to the cells found in the plant's lighter end. This hormone is also accountable for the plant to curve in response to light, the phenomenon is known as phototropism.

Apart from this one of the major functions of the plant hormone auxin is to sustain apical dominance.
