The reason why it is important to choose a counterclaim that it is strong and reasonable when writing an argumentative research essay is because there will always be two sides to an argument; when we write an argumentative essay we must also know what the counterclaim may be, that is, any objection to our argument; this will allow us to have better supporting points to disprove the counterclaim. The stronger the counterclaim, which we will disprove with our reasons and evidence, the greater chances our claim, will have to be accepted.
