This is how I would work it out:
1st no. = x+1 2x+10=3(x+1)-7
2nd no. = x 2x+10=3x-4
x=14
1st no. is 15; 2nd no. is 14
To check: 28+10=38; three times the larger is 45; and 38 is 7 less than 45.
