Use pemdas . if you are figuring out x or a letter always get it on the left. and try to make it positive for example " 28=7x " you would change it to "7x=28" next step would be to get the letter alone. so you divide each side by 7 so you end up with " x= 4"

Find the first, fourth, and eighth terms of the sequence. A(n) = –5 • 3n–1 please help me
Korvikt [17]

Answer:

First term: -10

Fourth term: -55

Eighth term: -115

Step-by-step explanation:

I am assuming the means -5(3n-1). To find the first term, plug in 1. You will get -5(3*1-1) or -5*2 or -10.

To find the fourth term, plug in 4. You will get -5(3*4-1) or -5*11 or -55.

To find the eighth term, plug in 8. You will get -5(3*8-1) or -5*23 or -115.

So the answers are -10, -55, and -115.

According to a study conducted by an organization, the proportion of Americans who were afraid to fly in 2006 was 0.10. A rando
Nimfa-mama [501]

Answer: No, this is not necessarily evidence that the proportion of Americans who are afraid to fly has increased.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that

n = 1400

x = 154

So, \hat{p}=\dfrac{154}{1400}=0.11

and p = 0.10

So, hypothesis would be

H_0:\hat{p}=p\\\\H_a:\hat{p}>p

So, the test statistic value would be

z=\dfrac{\hat{p}-p}{\sqrt{\dfrac{p(1-p)}{n}}}\\\\z=\dfrac{0.11-0.10}{\sqrt{\dfrac{0.1\times 0.9}{1400}}}\\\\z=\dfrac{0.01}{0.008}\\\\z=1.25

At 5% level of significance,

critical value would be 1.96.

Since 1.96>1.25.

so, we will accept the null hypothesis.

Hence, no, this is not necessarily evidence that the proportion of Americans who are afraid to fly has increased.
