Meiosis is performed by organisms such as animals and humans, while mitosis is performed at a more rapid rate by organisms such as bacteria, fungi, and plants. Also, meiosis has two rounds of genetic separation and cellular division involving a sperm and egg cell while mitosis only has one of each.
