Those who inherit their wealth are sometimes known as the old rich, or "old money", while those who made their way up from a more humble beginning, are sometimes known as the "new rich".

For practical purposes, they are more or less the same: both groups belong to the Upper Class, and enjoy economic and social benefits that are associated with wealth. However, in the social aspect, it is true that some groups of old rich do discrimante against the new rich.
