Answer: 6.67%

Explanation:

Return on Investment is calculated by dividing Income from operations by average total assets.

Average Total Assets = (Beginning Value + Closing Value) / 2

= (2,700,000 + 3,300,000 )/2

= 6,000,000/2

= $3,000,000

Return on Investment = Income from operations/ Average Total Assets

Return on Investment = 200,000/3,000,000

Return on Investment = 0.06667

= 6.67%

For purposes of computing the WACC, if the book value of equity exceeds the market value of equity, then: the market value of eq
vagabundo [1.1K]

Answer:

The market value of equity should be used.

Explanation:

Their are only two methods which are book value method or market value method. The market value method is preferred because the reason is that the market value gives the more accurate numerical value that the securities of the company will give which is the required rate of return to its investors. However historic cost data is not useful because the value of stock and bonds keeps changing every second in the stock exchange and their is the risk that the WACC calculated is inaccurate which implies that the project appraised is also incorrect.

So the best way to calculate the weighted cost of capital is that we should use the fair value of the securities.

Your firm is planning to invest in a new electrostatic power generation system. Electrostat Inc is a firm that specializes in th
kozerog [31]

Answer:

The cost of capital for electrostatic power generators is closest to 7.75%

Explanation:

In order to calculate the estimate of your cost of capital for electrostatic power generators we would have to make the following calculation:

Step-1, Calculation of the Overall Beta

Market Value of Equity = $40,00,00,000 [160,00,000 Shares x $25 per share]

Market Value of Debt = $22,00,00,000

Total Market Value = $62,00,00,000

Therefore, Beta = [Equity Beta x Weight of Equity] + [Debt Beta x Weight of Debt]

= [1.18 x ($40,00,00,000 / $62,00,00,000)] + [0.08 x ($22,00,00,000 / $62,00,00,000)]

= 0.761290 + 0.028387

= 0.789677

Step-2, Cost of capital

As per CAPM Approach, Cost of capital = Risk-free Rate x (Beta x Market Risk Premium)

= 3% + (0.789677 x 6%)

= 3% + 4.75%

= 7.75%

Therefore, the cost of capital for electrostatic power generators is closest to  7.75%
