Temperature determines if it is a solid, liquid, or gas.

How temperature affects the molecule is, the hotter it is the more fast and loose they will be (gas), the colder it is the more slow and packed together they will be (solid).

So,

If you put water on the stove and heat it up it will turn into a gas. (water vapor)                        If you put water in the freezer, it will turn into a solid. (ice)

Sarah measures out 151 grams of SO2. How many miles is this? Express your answer to three significant figures
elena-s [515]

150 g SO₂ = 2.36 mol SO₂

M_r = 32.06 + 2×16.00 = 32.07 + 32.00 = 64.06

Moles of SO₂ = 151 g SO₂ × [1 mol SO₂/64.06 g SO₂] = 2.36 mol SO₂

How many moles of H2O form when 4.5 moles O2 reacts?
mart [117]

Explanation:

Start with a balanced equation.

2H2 + O2 → 2H2O

Assuming that H2 is in excess, multiply the given moles H2O by the mole ratio between O2 and H2O in the balanced equation so that moles H2O cancel.

5 mol H2O × (1 mol O2/2 mol H2O) = 2.5 mol O2

Answer: 2.5 mol O2 are needed to make 5 mol H2O, assuming H2 is in excess.
