Answer:

number of cans = 10

number of packages orded = x

1 package = 6 cans

total cans = y

total cans = cans sitting on shelf + ordeded packages of cans

y = 10 + 6x ( D )

why 6x ? because we don't know how many packages of cans(x) are ordered but we do know that in 1 package there are 6 cans . so in order to know how many cans are ordered, 6 must times the number if packages ordered that is x. that's why it becomes 6x.

Is change in math always represented as a positive number even when its negative?
beks73 [17]
I think you mean like a number decreasing at a percentage. Yea it’s gonna be positive cause like it’s a number but then it’s probably gonna say decreasing making it negative or increasing making it positive. I’m pretty sure, correct if I’m wrong.

Solve the equation 2(x-4)=-22
Tcecarenko [31]

Hello Lexi!

<u><em>Answer:  ⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒⇒ x=-7</em></u>

__________________________________________________________

Step-by-step explanation:

First you had to divide by 2 from both sides of equation.

\frac{2(x-4)}{2}=\frac{-22}{2}

Simplify.

\frac{2(x-4)}{2}=x-4

\frac{2(x-4)}{2}

Divide by the numbers.

\frac{2}{2}=1

=x-4

\frac{-22}{2}=-11

Apply the fraction rule.

\frac{-22}{2}

=-\frac{22}{2}

Then you divide by the number.

\frac{22}{2}=11

=-11

x-4=-11

Add by 4 from both sides of equation.

x-4+4=-11+4

Simplify it should be the correct answer.

x=-7
