One thing that makes the Peachtree Road Race special is that it takes place each year on Independence Day. (1) American flags ar

e waved down Peachtree Street, and nearly everywhere red, white, and blue is seen. Many runners choose to wear stars-and-stripes as a part of their racing outfit, but no one is allowed to wear costumes in this serious race. That means no Statues of Liberty are officially allowed running down the road, as with other large festive races such as the Bay-to-Breakers 12K in San Francisco. (2) Because the Peachtree is run on a holiday, most people have the day off. (3) They either run the race or cheer on the runners from either side of the street. There are tens of thousands of spectators all along the course.
Which of these statements BEST summarizes the main idea of paragraph 2?

A)
Spectators and runners both make the race special.

B)
The race is different than other races run on holidays.

C)
People dress patriotically to celebrate Independence Day.

D)
The Peachtree is special because it is run on an important holiday

Romeo has been acting depressed. He has been seen going into the woods at night with tears on his face, and in the morning he comes back to the house and locks himself into the room.

Implied or implicit ideas, thoughts, or motives embedded in a story compose a story’s _____.
ss7ja [257]
I believe subtext would be the best option, simply becasue the plot is more of the main idea and what is going to happen where the subtext is kind of what the author wants you to get out of it.

What contribution does the character of odysseus make to overall purpose and meaning of the text?
iris [78.8K]

Answer: Odysseus has the defining character traits of a Homeric leader: strength, courage, nobility, a thirst for glory, and confidence in his authority. His most distinguishing trait, however, is his sharp intellect. Odysseus’s quick thinking helps him out of some very tough situations, as when he escapes from the cave of the Cyclops in Book 9, or when he hides his slaughter of the suitors by having his minstrel strike up a wedding tune in Book 23.
