Answer:

16 = small

74 = big

Step-by-step explanation:

4x+10 = big angle

x = small angle

4x+10+x = 90

5x+10 = 90

5x = 80

x = 16

4 x 16 + 10 = 74

Answer:

y=16^{\circ},x=74^{\circ}

Step-by-step explanation:

Let complementary angles are x and y.

Let x is larger angle between x and y.

We have to find the measure of both angles x and y.

According to question

x=4y+10

We know that complementary angles :Two angles whose sum is 90 degrees.

x+y=90^{\circ}

4y+10+y=90

5y=90-10=80

y=\frac{80}{5}=16^{\circ}

Substitute the value then we get

x=4(16)+10=74^{\circ}

What is the first step needed to solve 4 over 7 multiplied by x minus 5 equals negative 13? Subtract 13 from both sides Divide b
Varvara68 [4.7K]

Answer: C) add 5 to both sides

The given equation is

(4/7)x - 5 = -13

To solve this, we follow PEMDAS in reverse undoing each operation. Normally parenthesis is the first thing we look for, but instead we start with subtraction.

So we'll undo subtraction which means we add 5 to both sides

Prove that √2 +√5 is irrational
Sindrei [870]

We have to prove that \sqrt{2}+\sqrt{5} is irrational. We can prove this statement by contradiction.

Let us assume that \sqrt{2}+\sqrt{5} is a rational number. Therefore, we can express:

a=\sqrt{2}+\sqrt{5}

Let us represent this equation as:

a-\sqrt{2}=\sqrt{5}

Upon squaring both the sides:

(a-\sqrt{2})^{2}=(\sqrt{5})^{2}\\a^{2}+2-2\sqrt{2}a=5\\a^{2}-2\sqrt{2}a=3\\\sqrt{2}=\frac{a^{2}-3}{2a}

Since a has been assumed to be rational, therefore, \frac{a^{2}-3}{2a} must as well be rational.

But we know that \sqrt{2} is irrational, therefore, from equation \sqrt{2}=\frac{a^{2}-3}{2a} the expression \frac{a^{2}-3}{2a} must be irrational, which contradicts with our claim.

Therefore, by contradiction,  \sqrt{2}+\sqrt{5} is irrational.
