Of the rights listed by Jefferson, The <em>First Amendment</em> (adopted on December 15, 1791, originally proposed to persuade Anti-Federalists to ratificate the Constitution) included: freedom of religion, and freedom of the press and freedom of speech. Besides, it also addressed the freedom of assembly and the freedom to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
