Answer:

42.01 °C

Explanation:

Step 1: explain the problem

We have to find the initial temperature, when a certain amount of heat raises this sample of water to its boiling point ( 100 °C)

⇒this amount of heat = 5.51 x 10Δ^5 J

We will use the formule : Q = mcΔ T

with Q = heat transfer ( J)

with m = mass of the substance (g)

with c = specific heat ( J/g °C)

with Δ T = temperature change ( in °C or K)

Water has a specific heat of 4.186 J/g °C

Step 2 : Calculate the initial temperature

We have to rearrange the formule first:

Δ T = Q / mc

In this case we have :

Δ T = 5.51 * 10^5 J / 2270 g * 4.186 J/g °C = 57.99

⇒ The final temperature of the water is the boiling point (100 °C) and the change of temperature is 57.99. This means that the boiling point is 57.99 °C higher than the initial temperature.

This means : Δ T = Tboiling point - Tinitial

Δ T = 57.99 °C = 100 °C - Tinitial

Tinitial = 100 °C - 57.99 °C = 42.01 °C

The initial temperature of the water is 42.01 °C

Which of these limiting factors is MOST likely to affect low-growing plants in a tropical forest? Group of answer choices air wa
Georgia [21]

Answer:

air, water, sunlight

Explanation:

A limiting factor may be defined as a environmental condition or a resource that can limit the plant growth as well as distribution or the abundance of an organism or its population within the ecosystem. The ability of any plant species to grow and spread throughout any geographic area is the direct result of the adaption to its biotic and abiotic components of that region.

Some of the factor that affect the plant growth are : sunlight, air, proper temperature, moisture, nutrients, wind,etc.

The lack of the any one of the above essential component will determine the health of the plant.

Suppose that a TLC plate is spotted with samples 1.0 cm above the bottom of the plate. Select the consequence of inserting the p
Oksi-84 [34.3K]

Answer:

The compounds in the samples will leach into the pool of developing solvent resulting in poor resolution.

Explanation:

The aim of thin layer chromatography is the separation of a mixture. Usually, the stationary phase is spotted with the mixture. A mark is made with a pencil at the point to be spotted.

It is necessary to note that the solvent must be below the spot where the mixture is. This is because, if the solvent is above the spot of the mixture to be separated, the components of the mixture will dissolve away in the solvent resolution in poor separation. This is exactly what will happen when the sample is spotted at 1.0 cm above the bottom when the solvent is 1.2 cm above the bottom.

How many moles of argon are equal to 3.01×1023 atoms
tiny-mole [99]
To convert from atoms of argon to moles of argon, you need to divide by Avogadro's constant.

3.01*10^23 atoms *(1 mole/6.022*10^23 atoms) = 0.500 moles Ar

0.500 moles of Argon is equal to 3.01*10^23 atoms of Argon.

in the combustion of octane, how many grams of oxygen are needed to completely react and produce 84.00 grams of carbon dioxide?
ryzh [129]

Answer:

95.4g

Explanation:

Given parameters:

Mass of carbon dioxide = 84g

Unknown:

Mass of oxygen = ?

Solution:

To solve this problem, we will simply work backward from the known to the unknown specie.

We first must write the balanced equation of the reaction;

             2C₈H₁₈   +    25O₂      →       16CO₂     +      18H₂O

Now, convert the mass of CO₂ to number of moles;

         Number of moles  = \frac{mass}{molar mass}

              Molar mass of CO₂ = 12 + 2(16) = 44g/mol

        Number of moles  = \frac{84}{44}   = 1.91moles

From the balanced equation,

                   16 moles of CO₂ is produced by 25 moles of O₂

                   1.91 mole of CO₂ will be produced by \frac{1.91 x 25}{16} = 2.98mole of O₂

Now, we convert this moles of Oxygen gas to mass;

     Mass of O₂ = number of moles x molar mass

                           = 2.98 x 2(16)

                            = 95.4g
