         The control population is a part of the scientific method, it's needed because you need to compare the changes that are happening. Let's clear this out with an example: I am a biology student and I want to check if a population of green butterflies are in a process of adaptation due to the pressure of nature. Now I grab samples of green butterflies of the same species to analyze and check if they are too different from a group control, which needs to be stablished and collected before the group mentioned above. By doing this you can compare the findings and all the adaptations that might be happening on this species.

Answer:

It is difficult to determine the process of adaptation unless there is a reference in from the closely related species. The process of adapting certain change in the body of an organism to survive in a better way is known as adaptation.

There should be some reference to observe the change. The adaptation can be observed only when two organism from the same species are compared.

One of them will have some adaptation and the other will not have adaptation. So , in this way we can determine the adaption.
