You can't answer that, because 3 can't be added with a. It could be 3₃ + 19. Who knows!

4a

If it helps, there is actually a 1 before the a. So, the problem reads 3a + 1a. now you just add the 3 and 1 and attach the variable.

Hope this helps

What are the zeros of the polynomial function F(x) = xᶺ2 – 5x – 6?
zavuch27 [327]

First, you need to factor the function.  You can do this by finding a pair of numbers whose product is equal to the c term (-6) and whose sum is equal to the b term (-5).  These numbers are -6 and 1 (-6*1=-6, -6+1=5).  The factored expression takes the form:

(x+1)(x-6)=0

The zeroes can be found by flipping the signs in the parentheses.  The zeroes are equal to each number.

The zeroes are -1 and 6.

Hope this helps!!

The original line has the equation of y=-2x+8
enot [183]

The new equation of line that is perpendicular to the original that goes through the point (6, -1) in slope intercept form is y = \frac{1}{2}x - 4

<h3><u>Solution:</u></h3>

Given that original line has the equation of y = -2x + 8

We have to write a new equation that is perpendicular to the original that goes through the point (6, -1)

Let us first find slope of original line

<em><u>The slope intercept form of line is given as:</u></em>

y = mx + c ------ eqn 1

Where "m" is the slope of line and "c" is the y - intercept

On comparing the slope intercept form and given original equation, we get "m = -2"

Thus slope of original line "m" = -2

We know that product of slope of a line and slope of line perpendicular to it are always -1

slope of original line x slope of line perpendicular to it = -1

\begin{array}{l}{-2 \times \text { slope of line perpendicular to it }=-1} \\\\ {\text { slope of line perpendicular to it }=\frac{1}{2}}\end{array}

Let us find equation of line with slope m = 1/2 and passes through point (6, - 1)

Substitute m = \frac{1}{2} and (x, y) = (6, -1) in eqn 1

-1 = \frac{1}{2} \times 6 + c\\\\-1 = 3 + c\\\\c = -4

<em><u>Thus the required equation of line is:</u></em>

Substitute "c" = -4 and m = \frac{1}{2} in eqn 1

y = \frac{1}{2}x - 4

Thus the equation of line perpendicular to original line is found

What are the amplitude period phase shift and midline for F(x)=-4cos(3x-3.14)+2
andreyandreev [35.5K]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

f(x) = -4cos(3x-pi) +2

compare to f(x) = A cos (B(x+C))+D

A is amplitude =4

Period is 2pi/B so period = 2pi/3

Phase shift is C so phase shift = -pi (this could be positive if it shifted to the left)

Midline is at D so midline is y=2
