7. x=45 The angle is a right angle, which is 90 degrees. 45+45=90
8. x=45 3x+x=180>> 3(45)+45=180>> 135+45=180
9. x=30 2x+x=90>> 2(30)+30=90>> 60+30=90
10. x=50 2x+(x+30)=180>> 2(50)+(50+80)=180>> 100+(80)=180
11. x=30 (x+20)+(x+10)=90>> (30+20)+(30+10)=90>> 50+40=90
12. x=25 (x+20)+(5x+10)=180>> (25+20)+(5(25)+10)=180>> 45+(125+10)=180>> 45+135=180
13. x=9 6x+4x=90>> 6(9)+4(9)=90>> 54+36=90
14. x=34 (2x-10)+(3x+20)=180>> (2(34)-10)+(3(34)+20)=180>> (68-10)+(102+20)=180>> 58+122+180
15. x=18 (2x+15)+(3x-15)=90>> (2(18)+15)+(3(18)-15)=90>> (36+15)+(54-15)=90>> 51+39=90

Given: sin ∅= 4/5 and cos x = -5/13 ; evaluate the following expression.

tan( ∅ - x )
Pavlova-9 [17]

By definition of tangent,

tan(θ - x) = sin(θ - x) / cos(θ - x)

Expand the sine and cosine terms using the angle sum identities,

sin(x ± y) = sin(x) cos(y) ± cos(x) sin(y)

cos(x ± y) = cos(x) cos(y) ∓ sin(x) sin(y)

from which we get

tan(θ - x) = (sin(θ) cos(x) - cos(θ) sin(x)) / (cos(θ) cos(x) + sin(θ) sin(x))

Also recall the Pythagorean identity,

cos²(x) + sin²(x) = 1

from which we have two possible values for each of cos(θ) and sin(x):

cos(θ) = ± √(1 - sin²(θ)) = ± 3/5

sin(x) = ± √(1 - cos²(x)) = ± 12/13

Since there are 2 choices each for cos(θ) and sin(x), we'll have 4 possible values of tan(θ - x) :

• cos(θ) = 3/5, sin(x) = 12/13 :

tan(θ - x) = -56/33

• cos(θ) = -3/5, sin(x) = 12/13 :

tan(θ - x) = 16/63

• cos(θ) = 3/5, sin(x) = -12/13 :

tan(θ - x) = -16/63

• cos(θ) = -3/5, sin(x) = -12/13 :

tan(θ - x) = 56/33

Scientists often write very large or very small numbers using exponents. How might a scientist write the number shown using expo
kirill115 [55]

Answer:

It makes comparing magnitudes easier. It is much easier to estimating numbers easier. you can easily say that 0.0000000009 is smaller than 0.0000001 and even say but how much, and it reduces the amount of time you have to read the number, since instead of having 0s, you have the amount of 0s.
