Although the industrialization and urbanization brought new hopes for the African Americans and economic opportunities became one of the most driving factor for the Great migrations, there were other reasons as well. The discriminatory laws in the South made African Americans look of a new space for themselves. There were secret societies in the south that used all kinds of methods to repress the participation of Blacks in the South.
