Explanation:This study was driven by the success of woman athletes in the 1997 Olympics, which made people mode hopefully and optimistic that woman will then start to be recognised in the sport industry.

The optimism was mostly driven by the invention of women's sport magazine. The aim of this study was to actual scrutinize how athlete women are portrayed when compared to athletes men. Eventhough the women we doing well , during this study it was discovered that only 10% were covered in those magazines so there were no changes in coverage eventhough more women were participating in sport. Even those who were making appearance in sport magazines, they were depicted in sexually objectifying poses ,scantily clad clothing and sexually inviting bodies whilst men were portrayed in athletics motions. In this study a conclusion was made that men hegemonic ideas of masculinity were supported .
