Answer:

x  \:  <  \: 3\: and \: x\:  >  \: 2

Step-by-step explanation:

The given inequality is

4x - 4 \:  <  \: 8 \: and \: 9x + 5 \:  >  \: 23

Add 4 to both sides of the first inequality and subtract 5 from both sides of the second inequality.

4x  \:  <  \: 8 + 4 \: and \: 9x\:  >  \: 23 - 5

We simplify to get:

4x  \:  <  \: 12 \: and \: 9x\:  >  \: 18

Divide through the first inequality by 4 and the second by 9.

x  \:  <  \: 3\: and \: x\:  >  \: 2

Use the equation y= -x + 5 <br> •What is the y-intercept<br><br> •What is the slope of this line
Rudik [331]
Y = mx + b is the format for this equation, where <em>m</em> is the slope and <em>b</em> is the y-intercept. with that information, (-1) would be your slope, taking the assumed coefficient of 1 from the x, and the y-intercept is 5.

Raymond normally has a snack consisting of ten 12-calorie crackers. How many 20-calorie cookies would he have to eat to consume
ss7ja [257]
<h3>Answer:  6</h3>

Work Shown:

He eats ten 12-calorie crackers, so that is 10*12 = 120 calories total

If x is the number of 20-calorie cookies, then the total number of calories here is 20x. We want this to be 120, so,

20x = 120

x = 120/20 .... divide both sides by 20

x = 6

He must eat six 20-calorie cookies to get 120 calories total

Find the area of the given figure.<br> show your work please!
ICE Princess25 [194]

Answer:

30.3m^2

Step-by-step explanation:

I started off by finding the area of the semi circle. The formula πr^2 divided by 2. The radius of the circle is 2 because it is half of the diameter which is 4. So π(2)^2 divided by 2 is 6.3.

Next I broke apart the the shape into a rectangle and a triangle for simplicity sake.  So doing this I had to know where to cut and if you look at the top of the figure it shows 2m for the length at the top. So I put a vertical line there. Thus changing the 10m on the bottom to a 8m section and a 2m section. So the rectangle's area will be the length times the height which is 2x4=8.

The triangle's area can be found with the equation BH/2 and we the 8 base we found and a height of 4 it is 8x4/2. Which ends up as 16.

Finally you add up all three area's that you found 8+16+6.3=30.3
