6x + 18    and
    -4(2x -6)
    -8x + 24
6x + 18 = 14x -8x + 24 --> reduce
6x + 18 = 6x + 24 --> subtract 18 from both sides
6x = 6x + 6 --> divide both sides by 6

In the first equation, multiply everything in the parenthesis by 3.
In the second equation, multiply everything in the parenthesis by -4.

6x + 24 = 14x - 8x + 26

Combine like terms.

6x + 24 = 6x + 26

Subtract 24 from both sides.

6x = 6x + 2

Subtract 6x from both sides.

0 = 2

This means that there are no solutions.
