As Soviet leader Stalin hinted the indefinite presence of his armed forces in Western Europe and all kinds of contact (mail, telephone, telegraph, etc.) with the West were drastically reduced and censored, Winston Churchill made his famous analogy in a speech delivered in Westminster College, in Fulton, Missouri, "From Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic, an iron curtain has descended across the continent."
