The Model of Christian Charity was the preaching of John Winthrop, a puritan, who focused on how puritanic colonists should act with each other to help each other and the colonies survive. John Winthrop was one of the major leaders in the first Puritan settlement in the USA. What he emphasizes in the sermon is that Puritanism in general acknowledges that the word of God came through the Bible and not through the Church, and that as believers in predestination, people can be good or bad, they can not change the fact whether they are chosen from God or not. Only the chosen ones can hear the word of God and put an alliance with God, which he considered, because God allowed Puritans, as chosen to create a community not only as Christians, but also as Americans. Thus, he thinks that puritans are chosen among people, such as the ancient Israelites chosen among peoples.

The answer is: Ancient Israelites

What is the effect of Douglass’ descriptions of the rivalry slaves hold over their masters? What do these descriptions express a
Natalija [7]

We can say the following about the way Douglass describes the rivalry slaves hold and what that says about their experience and situation.

According to Douglass, the rivalry between slaves consists of them fighting about whose master is kinder. However, they do that because, if they say something bad about their master, they will be whipped.

Such a description reveals how cruel and miserable the life of a slave is. A slave needs to lie, to act happy, when all he or she knows is pain.

The life of a slave

Frederick Douglass was a former slave himself. After escaping slavery and having learned to read and write, Douglass was able to fight as an abolitionist and write conveying the horrors of slavery.

When he describes the rivalry held by slaves over their masters, he is showing how cruel and unjust life is to slaves.

Although treated as less than humans, they are forced to lie about the kindness of their masters for fear of being physically punished.

So, we can easily see that we've got a big problem. Now, let's talk about what we can do about it.

Explanation:

In the first sentence Jason uses the incorrect auxiliary verb as the noun referred to is a plural noun and not a singular noun. (Plural Noun = America's cities, therefore the plural auxiliary verb = are)

In the second sentence, a comma may be added for pause to show the comparison between the present and the past. (... narcotics today, than in the 1960s.)

In the last sentence, a comma may be added to indicate additional information, a pause to offer an effect, or an indication of an instruction to follow. (Now, let's talk...)
