History

tangare [24]3 years ago

Since February 1831, Turner has come to believe that certain atmospheric phenomena should be interpreted as a sign that he should begin preparing for rebellion against slaveholders. On February 11, 1831, the state of Virginia observed a solar eclipse. Turner saw in it the hand of the black man who closed the sun, and he accepted this vision as a sign. The uprising was originally scheduled for July 4, Independence Day, but was postponed due to  his illness. On August 13 there was another solar eclipse, in which the sun of bluish-green color appeared. Turner took it as a final signal, and a week later, on August 21, he began a rebellion.

Why were people in New England able to use water power to run mills?
kotykmax [81]

Answer:

People in New England were able to use water power to run various mills because of the availability of woods and water. Labor was expensive in the colonies as they brought from England and Africa via crossing the Atlantic Ocean. With the introducing of the mills in New England, they replaced the human and animals. Water-powered mills eventually paved the way for showing the benefits of machinery and mechanical power. By 1700 there were about 70 water-powered mills in New England.

What effect did the Great Schism of 1378 have on Europe?
svet-max [94.6K]

Answer:

E) People became more loyal to their own countries.

Explanation:

This was one of the consequences of the Great Schism of 1378. This was a conflict in which several men proclaimed themselves to be the pope of the Catholic Church. One of the consequences of this was that people became supporters of the "pope" that was closest to them or better represented them. This caused some regional fragmentation and the development of regional identities, which led people to become more loyal to their own countries.
