the collapse of the allies occured on secondary fronts- like Turkey and Iraq- and did not really affect the way the war was run. Moreover the Russian front was secured (after Lenin "thanked" his german "guides" by taking out Russia from the war) so the only areas that were contested was Italy (practically a stalemate due to the mountains) and the "western front".
