State two examples of situations where active transport occurs

Biology
1 answer:

When something needs to be transported against its concentration gradient, or a molecule is too big to simply diffuse through a membrane, active transport has to be used. So active transport requires energy (ATP).

Examples:

1. Antiport pumps: transport one substance in one direction while transporting another substance the other way. An example of this is the sodium-potassium pump.

2. Symport pumps - uses a substance that wants to move from an area of high concentration to low concentration and carries another substance against its concentration gradient. An example of this is the sodium-glucose transport protein

3. Endocytosis - large amounts of extra cellular fluid can be taken into a cell - needs ATP to bind proteins in the cell membrane and causes them to change their shape...which eventually causes the surrounding of the fluid to be brought in (a vesicle).

4.exocytosis - opposite of above

Compare what ways are planets and<br> dwarf planets similar.
Cerrena [4.2K]
So the similarity of the planets and the dwarf planets are they are both mostly round because they have sufficient gravity to flatten their own surfaces into a sphere. The differences are that planets are big enough to clear the whole region of space where they orbit the sun whereas dwarf planets do not.

1.) A persons genes are found in their chromosomes. The correct answer is D, your chromosomes. The correct answer is D.

2.) The shape of DNA is called a double helix. The strands run opposite each other and twist together. The correct answer is B.

3.) The relationship between a chromosome and DNA is that chromosomes are made of DNA. The correct answer is A.

Compare the sugar-phosphate arrangement in the backbone of the DNA from the plant, the manmal and the bacterium. Are there any d
eimsori [14]

Answer:

No, there are no differences

Explanation:

Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is a molecule composed of two polynucleotide chains that interact together in order to form a double helix. This molecule (DNA) carries the genetic instructions that make each species unique. In DNA, each polynucleotide chain is composed of nucleotide monomers: a nucleotide is composed of a deoxyribose sugar attached to a phosphate group and one nitrogen-containing base (i.e., adenine, thymine, guanine and cytosine). This basic structure is the same among different species, and, therefore, genetic differences between different groups (in this case, animals, plants, and bacteria) are caused by differences in the nucleotide-base sequences of their DNA molecules.
