In one paragraph give your opinion of why it was important for George Washington to put down the Whiskey Rebellion and enforce the tax on whiskey. In a second paragraph explain why the farmers thought the tax was unfair.

Probably Washington concerned it important to put down the Whiskey Rebellion because he led the American Revolution and fought to form the then fledgling country, and he didn't want it to topple while he was in office. It was also a threat to the new republic.

    It  was  important  for  George  Washington  to  put  down  the  whiskey  rebellion  because  things  were  getting  out  of   hand.  The  farmers  thought  that  if  they  fought  them  on  this  and  started  the  whiskey  rebellion  they  could  get  away  with  it.  By  George  Washington  putting  it  down  he  showed  them  that  they  were  in  charge  and  that  they  needed  to  obey  the  laws.

    The  farmers  didn’t  have  much  money  in  order  to  pay  the  taxes.  The  farmers  needed  the  whiskey  so  they  could  carry  their  grain  in  it  so  that  it  would  hold  more  and  that  the  grain  would  not  spoil.  The  grain  was  how  they  got  their  profit.
