Answer: More surfactant is produced as the lungs carry on developing. The blood vessels and lung cells develop and change to increase the amount of surface area available for oxygen to get into the blood. This prepares your baby's lungs to breathe outside the womb.

A biology student caught and tagged 50 trout in a small lake. After two weeks, the student caught another 40 trout and found tha
Vlad1618 [11]

The best estimate of the population of trout in the lake is 500 individuals.

The low number of tagged trout recaptured may be because the tags slipped off.

This possibility can be reduced if the student used tags that does not slip off easily.

<h3>Mark and recapture method</h3>

The formula for calculating the estimated number of individuals in the population is given as:

  • N = (M*C) / R

where:

  • N = estimated Number of individuals in the population
  • M = number of individuals captured and Marked
  • C = total number Captured the second time (with and without a mark)
  • R= number of individuals Recaptured (those with a mark)

Calculating the estimate trout population:

N = (50*40)/4

N = 50

Therefore, the best estimate of the population of trout in the lake is 500 individuals.

The low number of tagged trout recaptured may be because the tags slipped off.

This possibility can be reduced if the student used tags that does not slip off easily.

What are the possible genotypes of the parents of a male child who is colorblind?
viva [34]
Color Blindness is an X-linked trait. This explains why males are much more likely to have it than females. Offspring inherit Color Blindness from their mother, because the father only contributes the Y chromosome. A female can only have the disorder if her father has it and her mother either has it or is a carrier

frosja888 [35]
The same ligand can bind to different receptors causing different responses (e.g.. acetylcholine). On the other hand, different ligands binding to different receptors can produce the same cellular response (e.g. glucagon, epinephrine).
