Alright, so I'm assuming you're supposed to graph these? Not sure what the instructions are, so I'm just taking a shot in the dark. So, for number four, the top one, you're gonna wanna start at (0,0), and just go up and over one. Keep doing that all the way across your graph. For the bottom part of number four, you're gonna wanna start at (0,6). That's gonna be on the tall, Y axis. So from there, you're gonna wanna go up two, and right one. All the way across your graph. To go backwards, just go two down & left one. If it's asking for point of intersection, the point of intersection is (-9,-10) If the slope is a positive, whole number, that's gonna be your ground rule. You go up the amount of said number, and across one.

Number six is slightly different. you're gonna wanna add the -x to the other side of the equation, which will make -2y=x-9. Then you divide the entire equation by -2. This should make y=-1/2+4/5.

Follow the same rule for the part question below it. Find out how to put x on the other side, and then divide the entire equation by the number in front of Y.

Let me know if I got the instructions wrong, and I'll happily amend this for you uvu

Consider the curve y=x2+3x+5. (a) Find the slope of the secant line to the curve through the points P=(4,33) and Q=(4+h,(4+h)2+3
lawyer [7]

Answer:

a) The slope of the secant line is 11 + h

b) The slope of the curve at P is 11

c) The equation of the tangent line at P is y = 11x - 11

Step-by-step explanation:

y=x²+3x+5

(a) Find the slope of the secant line to the curve through the points P=(4,33) and Q=(4+h,(4+h)²+3(4+h)+5)

(4+h)²+3(4+h)+5 = 16 + 8h + h² + 12 + 3h + 5 = 33 + 11h + h²

slope (m) = yq - yp/xq - xp → m = 33 + 11h + h² - 33/4 + h - 4

m = 11h + h²/h = h(11+h)/h = 11 + h

The slope of the secant line is 11 + h

(b) Use your answer from part (a) to find the slope of the curve at the point P.

As P (4,33) = (4+0, 33+0) at P h is 0, so the slope at P is 11 + 0 = 11

The slope of the curve at P is 11

(c) Write an equation of the tangent line to the curve at P.

y - yp = m(x - xp) → y - 33 = 11(x - 4) → y - 33 = 11x - 44 → y = 11x - 11

The equation of the tangent line at P is y = 11x - 11

(b) To have no winner within the first 6 tosses means that there must be 3 tails and 3 heads tossed. So we count how many ways can that happen. The number of ways to choose 3 heads (or tails, doesn't matter) from 6 tosses is

{6\choose 3}=\frac{6\cdot 5\cdot 4}{3\cdot 2} = 20

so 20 ways winthin the 6 tosses. but the question was "how many ways among the 128 of 7 tosses" so we need to add the 7th toss by multiplying by another 2 possibilities for the outcome of the 7th toss, giving us the answer: among the 128 there are 40 games that are tied and need the 7th toss.

(c) The probability is the number of tied games (after 6 tosses) divided by the total number of possible configurations among 6 tosses:

P(\mbox{"7th toss needed"}) = \frac{20}{64} = \frac{5}{16}
