“To Kill a Mockingbird”is written by Harper Lee. It is a story about Jem and Scout , two children living with their father Atticus, a lawyer,  in Maycomb during the Great Depression.  Atticus has to defend a black man Tom Robinson in court because they accused him of raping a white woman.

Answer 1 : C. It snowed because the children were disobeying their parents.

There was a real winter in Maycomb after years and the children did not like the way Mr. Avery was talking about their family.

Answer 2 : A. She was more upset about the charred azaleas than the house.

The day after her house burnt down Miss Maudie was cheerful again and making plans to build another house with a bigger garden.

Answer 3 : A. It is his job, and he couldn't say no to Judge Taylor when he asked him.

Atticus wanted to teach his children about moral values in life by giving them a good example to do the right thing.

1. The correct answer is C. It snowed because the children were disobeying their parents. Mr avery said that so Jem and Scout think it’s their fault.

2. The correct answer is A. She was more upset about the charred azaleas than the house. She really loved her azaleas and after the fire she just said now she will have more space for her plants.

3. The correct answer is C. It is his job, and he had no choice, despite Tom's obvious guilt. If Atticus wouldn’t represent Tom then he wouldn’t be able to represent his country in the legislature and he couldn’t even tell Scout or Jem to obey him.

An advantage of hearing this scene as opposed to just reading it would be that you can hear the characters' tone of voice, which helps you understand how they are really feeling. You could tell how the women really feel about their space being interrupted and intruded on. You also would have an easier time differentiating the characters, by their voices.
