The murders stood trial and were convicted of murder. Ross was sentenced into 5 years in prison and Simpson was convicted also,but gave them a dismissed on that.
The men that killed John Earl Reese were found guilty and sentenced to prison, but the sentences were suspended so that they never went to jail.
John Earl Reese was 16 years old when he was dancing in a cafe in Mayflower, Texas and white men fired shots into the windows. Reese was killed and two others were wounded. This tragic and appaling event happened on October 22nd. The men who shot and killed John were Joe Simpson and Perry Dean Ross.
