Tracy should deposit 1,369.86 to earn 3,000 in 5 years at 4% interest rate compounded 4 times a year

Given:
Compounded Interest = 3000
Term = 5 year
Frequency = 4 times a year
interest rate = 4%
Principal = unknown.

C.I = Principal × (1 + rate)^t
3000 = Principal × (1.04⁴)⁵
3000 = Principal × 1.17⁵
3000 = Principal x 2.19
3000/2.19 = Principal

Going by the attached formula:
(where 'n' is the number of compounding periods per year)
Principal = Total / (1 + rate / n)^ n*years
Principal = 3,000 / (1 + .04 / 4) ^ 4 * 5
Principal = 3,000 / (1.01) ^ 20
Principal = 3,000 / <span> <span> <span> 1.2201900399 </span> </span> </span>
Principal = <span> <span> <span> 2,458.63

A quadratic equation is shown below: x2 − 8x 13 = 0 which of the following is the first correct step to write the above equation
Fantom [35]

Add 3 to both sides, so you will have

x^2 - 8x + 13 + 3 = 3

x^2 -8x + 16 = 3

And now the left side is a perfect square trinolmial: (x-4)^2.

A piece of string is 112 inches long. Isabel wants to cut it into 2 pieces so that one piece is three times as long as the other
lukranit [14]
Answer:28inches & 84inches

First, lets write an equation that fits the data given. The string is 112 inches long. When the two pieces are cut, the first piece will be three times as long as the second piece. If we use the variable, x, to represent the second piece, we can create the following equation...

112=3x+x

Now lets solve for x.

112=4x
divide both sides by 4
28 inches=x

Now we know that the second piece is 28inches long. Since the first piece is three times as long, simply multiply 28*3 and we'll know the length of the first piece.

28*3=84 inches
28+84=112

HELP I WILL GIVE 100 POINTS!!! NO FAKE ANSWERS, PLEASE ANSWER ALL PARTS!!
katrin2010 [14]

option 1 is not linear because it does not change by the same amount every year. It does not have a constant slope.

option 2 increases by 100 per year, constant slope, straight line, linear

-----------------------

a = A y^n

1100 =A y

1210 = Ay^2

1331 = A y^3

---------------

1210/1100 = y = 1.1

check 1331/1210 = y = 1.1 sure enough

1100 = A (1.1)

A = 1000

so

a = 1000 * 1.1^n

and the linear option 2

a = 1000+100n

You can put the numbers in for part C

10% compounded is better than 10% simple :)
