A gene for eye color in an island fly species has two alleles: the dominant allele codes for blue eyes, and the recessive allele

codes for green eyes. If genetic drift is the only force that changes allele frequencies in a fly population, what is expected to happen to the blue and green eye allele frequencies in the population?

Answer:

The changes in the frequencies of blue and green eye alleles can not be predicted since genetic drift is a random event.

Explanation:

Genetic drift is the change in the allele frequencies of a population caused by some chance event. The effect of genetic drift is more pronounced in smaller populations since random events cause changes of greater magnitude in a small population. It can cause the complete loss of an allele from a small population.

According to the given information, the frequencies of alleles for green and blue eyes are changed by genetic drift which in turn would produce random evolutionary changes Either of the alleles may be eliminated from the population irrespective of the fact that the allele is beneficial or harmful. Thus, genetic drift would change the frequencies of the allele in an unpredictable manner.

Why can Benedict's solution be used to distinguish between glucose and sucrose? A. Glucose is a reducing sugar, and sucrose is n
Artist 52 [7]
The correct answer to the question about why can a Benedict solution be used to distinguish between a glucose and a sucrose is letter A. Benedict's Solution is used to test the presence of reducing sugar. Glucose is a reducing sugar while Sucrose is a non-reducing sugar since it has a glycosidic bonds between their structure that hinders the formation of open chain. In the end, Sucrose stuck at its cyclic form.

Explain the difference between each of the following substitution mutations:
pentagon [3]

Answer: silent mutation: a nucleotide base in a codon is replaced with a different base BUT the resulting amino acid isn’t affected.

Missense mutation: similar to a silent mutation, the only difference is that the switch of the nucleotide DOES result in a DIFFERENT amino acid

Nonsense mutation: a nucleotide base is changed, but that change results in a premature stop of translation

(Remember that after transcription, you are left with a strand of mRNA that Is then translated into a protein. The mRNA is read in increments of three nucleotide bases (A,U,G, or C) which is called a codon. That codon makes a single amino acid, and a strand of amino acids makes a protein)

How does human evolution or natural selection relate to the susceptibility of disease?
Phantasy [73]
Human evolution known to be a process in which species adapt to certain conditions of life, and in the battle of life and death, they are forced to become stronger in order to survive in this world. Diseases have always been present during the evolution, acting themselves as a natural selectors - the weaker organisms get sick and die. Not just humans, but all species have to establish a great protecting mechanism in order to survive. That is how our bodies are built, to be able to withstand and survive in the conditions we live in, and that is why our immune system has to be taken care of.
Hope this helped :)
