Adult ticket = x
student ticket = y

An adult ticket costs twice as much as a student ticket.
x = 2y

Total earnings is $1040
64x + 132y = 1040

x = 2y ------------------------------ (1)
64x + 132y = 1040 -------------(2)
Sub (1) into (2)
64 (2y) + 132y = 1040
128y + 132y = 1040
260y = 1040
y = 4 ------- sub into (1)
x = 2(4) = 8

Student ticket = $4
Adult ticket = $8

The circumference (C) C of a swimming pool is 56 feet. Which formula can you use to find the diameter (d) d if you know that C=π
LiRa [457]

Since you are solving for diameter, and the equation is given to you, just isolate the variable for diameter (d).

(C)/π = (πd)/π

d = C/π is your formula you will use.

Plug in 56 for C

d = 56/π

d = ~17.825

Josiah traveled 79.5 miles on 3 gallons of gasoline. At this rate, how many gallons of gasoline would he need to travel 265 mile
BigorU [14]
Josiah would need 10 gallons to travel 265 miles.

First we divide 79.5 by 3 to find out how many gallons are needed for one mile.

79.5/3=26.5

For one mile we need 26.5 gallons of gas.

Now we will divide 265 by 26.5 to find the answer to the problem.

265/26.5=10

Josiah will need 10 gallons of gas to travel 265 miles
