This is done when the hypothalamus in the brain detects the water concentration and the pituitary gland secretes a hormone called Anti Diuretic Hormone (ADH) . ADH prevents water from being reabsorbed. If there is little water in the body , more ADH would be secreted . If there is a lot of water , less ADH would be secreted .
