Cilia are the structures on the ventral side of the planaria that propel it forward.

Planaria is a type of flatworm that belongs to the class Turbellaria. Some species of planaria are terrestrial, while some are aquatic. Planarians have a soft and ciliated body. Cilia are hair like organelles situated on the ventral dermis of the planarians. Cilia function for locomotion by propelling the planarians forward, and allowing them to move smoothly on a layer of mucus.

You have designed a new drug which halts cell division. Studies on its effects show cell after cell with the chromosomes lined u
GarryVolchara [31]

Answer:

Option-C

Explanation:

The M phase of the cell cycle proceeds in the four phases: prophase followed by metaphase then anaphase, and telophase.

These sub-phases can be easily distinguished as the genetic material move in the cell in various form and the changes become characteristic of the subphases.

During metaphase, the chromosomes are aligned at the center of the cell or at the imaginary equatorial plate.   Since it is mentioned that the drug shows its effect when the chromosomes are aligned at the equatorial plate therefore he is referring to the metaphase of the cycle.

Thus, metaphase is correct.

Jane has been feeling tired, has cold and gained a bit weight and trouble concentrating. what hormone problem symptoms is this
ipn [44]

The hormones which cause Jane’s problem are the thyroid hormones.

The condition is hypothyroidism

Explanation:

Condition:  Hypothyroidism is an endocrine disorder which arises when the thyroid gland cannot produce the necessary amount of thyroid hormones like thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3).

Both T3 and T4 are tyrosine-based hormones which regulate metabolism and any deficiency slows down the metabolic processes and can result in high cholesterol levels and atherosclerosis

Causes:  An underactive thyroid gland  and Autoimmune disorder

Diagnosis:  Thyroid function tests by measuring serum thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) and T4 levels

In hypothyroidism, the TSH secreted by the pituitary gland will be high because it is producing more hormones to stimulate the underactive thyroid gland.

An underactive thyroid gland cannot produce normal levels of T4 in the body.

Symptoms:  Fatigue and weakness, cold intolerance, weight gain and puffy appearance, hair thinning, dry skin, decreased concentration, poor memory, muscle and body aches etc.

Treatment : Hormone replacement therapy with levothyroxine

Predict how many genetically different offspring could be produced by outcrossing two 2n=4 individuals (just account for indepen
Llana [10]

Answer:

16 genetically different offspring

Explanation:

This is the case as each parent has the ability to produce 4 uniquely different gametes through independent assortment. With such a scenario where each parent can product 4 uniquely different gametes multiplied by 4 parents, you have 16 offspring. So there's the possibility of producing 16 offspring that are unique.
