Explanation:

It is my utmost delight to welcome you to this department as freshmen and share with you, as your senior colleague, my experiences in this department. I am Mark John, the President of this noble department.

I entered this department at a very tender age and I came from a high school of a quality that is below average. This made it difficult for me to cope with the academic rigors of this university when I entered. I was so frustrated that I contemplated on dropping out.

I am a very open-minded personality who do not hesitate to share my problems with people and seek for way out. I approached one of my lecturers and shared my challenges with him, and that was a turning point in my life. He advised that I take my time to observe the brightest students in the class and make friends with them. He said I should make them my reading partners and let them realize my weakness. I did as he advised, and not long after then, began to notice a rapid improvement in my performance. I started very badly but now on top of the class due to the right attitude that I responded with when situations were against me.

I told you this story to prepare your minds that even if things do not work out the way you plan it, always put up the right attitude. Form a positive social circle, be studious, have belief in yourself, always tell yourself that you can. with the right attitude, you can move mountains.

Once again I welcome you to this department and wish you success in your endeavors.

As we know, we live in a society that sets standards all the time in any possible field. We have aesthetic, academic, professional, behavioral standards and many others. When we do not fit this pattern we feel excluded and we have difficulty accepting ourselves, for this reason, we have difficulty socializing and we start to think that we must change who we are in order to "fit in" and not be a lonely person and without any company .

It is no different with me, I do not fit the standard of beauty that society imposes. This affected my self-esteem and I was extremely unhappy and dissatisfied with my own image. This dissatisfaction isolated me from everything and everyone, I could not establish any kind of relationship with anyone, because I was so dissatisfied with me that I felt that I would be rejected by everyone.

My parents, concerned about my situation, proposed that I go to therapy so that I could better deal with these negative feelings around myself. It was not easy to change this view, but little by little I managed to improve and see that I don't need to fit into unreachable standards and that I could be who I am and focus on my qualities. It is not easy today, but I try to take it one step at a time, with the certainty that paranoias in my head should not be adopted as truth, but should be debated and help me to build a better conception of myself.
