There are many signs that portray how Gregor is losing his humanity, for instance how he is a complete mess while he eats and how he prefers rotten food instead of the fresh one. Other example of this losing of humanity is how he discovers that he prefers to be under the furniture and that he really enjoys crawling on the walls. Finally, he accepts his change and gets used to this new shape.
