Answer:

a)    x = 6

b)  0.2 radians.

Step-by-step explanation:

I ran out of time and the system logged me out so I'll start again:

a) Find the lengths of the arcs in terms of x and Ф:

arc SP = radius * Ф = 10Ф

arc TS = 10*3Ф = 30Ф

arc PT = 10Ф+30Ф = 40Ф.

arc QR = (10 + x)Ф

QR/PT = 2/5 so:

2/5 =  (10 + x)Ф / 40Ф

Cross multiply:

80Ф = 50Ф + 5xФ

5xФ =  30Ф

x = 6.

b)

The area of a sector = radius^2 * angle in radians.

The shaded area = area of arc QOR - area of arc POS:

31.2 = (10 + x)^2 Ф - 10^2 Ф

x = 6 so:

16^2  Ф - 100 Ф = 31.2

Ф = 31.2 / 156

= 0.2 radians.

serious [3.7K]
Probably 2 because It doesn't matter how many beads are in the bag and for 33.34% you would probably draw 2 beads before on the third draw getting a red one and 30% is close to 33.34% then I would you would probably draw 2 beads before drawing a red one.

The tickets in a box are numbered from 1-20 inclusive. If a ticket is chosen at random and replaced, and then a second ticket is
victus00 [196]
1) The sum of the two numbers is even either the two numbers are even or the two numbers are odd.

2) The probability that the two numbers are even is the product of the probabilities for each event:

- Probability that the first number is even: 10 / 20 = 0.5

- Probability that the second number is even: 10 / 20 = 0.5

- Probability that the two numbers are even: 0.5*0.5 = 0.25

3) The probability that the two numbers are odd is the product of the probabilities for each event:

- Probability that the first number is 0dd: 10/20 = 0.5

- Probability that the second number is odd: 10/20 = 0.5

- Probability that both numbers is odd = 0.5*0.5 = 0.25

4) Probability tha the sum is eve: 0.25 + 0.25 = 0.5

Answer: 0.5.

And it is reasonable, half of times the sum is even and half the sum is odd.
