Matter is defined as anything that has mass and takes up space (it has volume). It is you and me. There are 7 states of matter are Solids, Liquids, Gases, Ionized Plasma, Quark-Gluon Plasma, Bose-Einstein Condensate and Fermionic Condensate. All of which makes up our Earth. Our seas, our deserts, our atmosphere even.
