Answer:

P(X=0)=(10C10)(0.15)^{0} (1-0.15)^{10-0}=0.1969

P(X \geq 1)= 1-P(X

P(X=0)=(nCn)(p)^{0} (1-p)^{n-0}=(1-p)^n

P(X \geq 1)= 1-P(X

Step-by-step explanation:

Previous concepts

A Bernoulli trial is "a random experiment with exactly two possible outcomes, "success" and "failure", in which the probability of success is the same every time the experiment is conducted". And this experiment is a particular case of the binomial experiment.

The binomial distribution is a "DISCRETE probability distribution that summarizes the probability that a value will take one of two independent values under a given set of parameters. The assumptions for the binomial distribution are that there is only one outcome for each trial, each trial has the same probability of success, and each trial is mutually exclusive, or independent of each other".

The probability mass function for the Binomial distribution is given as:

P(X)=(nCx)(p)^x (1-p)^{n-x}

Where (nCx) means combinatory and it's given by this formula:

nCx=\frac{n!}{(n-x)! x!}

The complement rule is a theorem that provides a connection between the probability of an event and the probability of the complement of the event. Lat A the event of interest and A' the complement. The rule is defined by: P(A)+P(A') =1

Solution to the problem

Let X the random variable of interest, on this case we now that:

X \sim Binom(n=10, p=0.15)

what is the probability that no errors are made?

For this case means that all the questions were correct so we want this probability:

P(X=0)=(10C10)(0.15)^{0} (1-0.15)^{10-0}=0.1969

what is the probability that at least one error made?

For this case we want this probability:

P(X \geq 1)

And we can use the complement rule:

P(X \geq 1)= 1-P(X

If there are n questions and the probability of a marking error is p rather than 0.15, give expressions for the probabilities of no errors  and at least one error

P(X=0)=(nCn)(p)^{0} (1-p)^{n-0}=(1-p)^n

P(X \geq 1)= 1-P(X

BlackZzzverrR [31]
First we need to know how many miles per hour they drove the first time. This would be found by division. 168/3.5=48
Then we need to add 5 miles per hour for the average.48+5= 53
Next we need to multiply 2 1/4 by the new miles per hour 53*2.25=119.25
After that we need to know how many miles they drove 119.25+168=287.25 miles.
Finally to get an improper fraction we need to change 287.25 miles to it.
We already have 1/4 for .25 so we multiply 287 by 4 and add it to the 1/4 we already have and it makes it out to be 1149/4

Hope this helps!

A Statistics professor has observed that for several years students score an average of 106 points out of 150 on the semester ex
tekilochka [14]

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

We would set up the hypothesis test. This is a test of a single population mean since we are dealing with mean

For the null hypothesis,

µ = 106

For the alternative hypothesis,

µ > 106

It is a right tailed test because of >.

Since no population standard deviation is given, the distribution is a student's t.

Since n = 241,

Degrees of freedom, df = n - 1 = 241 - 1 = 240

t = (x - µ)/(s/√n)

Where

x = sample mean = 109

µ = population mean = 106

s = samples standard deviation = 8.3

a) test statistic, t = (109 - 106)/(8.3/√241) = 5.61

We would determine the p value using the t test calculator. It becomes

p = 0.00001

Since alpha, 0.05 > than the p value, 0.00001, then we would reject the null hypothesis. Therefore, At a 5% level of significance, this improvement seem to be practicallysignificant.

b) Confidence interval is written in the form,

(Sample mean - margin of error, sample mean + margin of error)

The sample mean, x is the point estimate for the population mean.

Margin of error = z × s/√n

Where

s = sample standard deviation

n = number of samples

From the information given, the population standard deviation is unknown, hence, we would use the t distribution to find the z score

df = 240

Since confidence level = 95% = 0.95, α = 1 - CL = 1 – 0.95 = 0.05

α/2 = 0.05/2 = 0.025

the area to the right of z0.025 is 0.025 and the area to the left of z0.025 is 1 - 0.025 = 0.975

Looking at the t distribution table,

z = 1.6512

Margin of error = 1.6512 × 8.3/√241

= 0.88

Confidence interval = 109 ± 0.88
