Answer:

Amount of money with Vincenzo, Miguel and Brendan is $4.5 , $13.5 and $9.5 respectively.

Explanation:

Given:

Miguel has three times as much money as Vincenzo.

Brendan has $4 less than Miguel and $5 more than Vincenzo

To Find:

Amount of money each person have=?

Solution:

Let assume amount of money with Vincenzo = $V

As given that Miguel has three times as much money as Vincenzo

So amount of money with Miguel = 3 x amount of money with Vincenzo =

=> 3 x V = 3V

Let say money with Brendan = $B

As Brendan has $4 less than Miguel

=> B = 3V – 4  ------(1)

Also Brendan has $5 more than Vincenzo

=> B = V + 5  ------(2)

From (1) and (2) , we can say that

=> 3V – 4   = V + 5           [ As both are equal to B.]

=> 3V – V = 5 + 4

=> 2V = 9

=> V = \frac{9}{2}

=>V=4.5

Amount of money with Vincenzo = V = $4.5

Amount of money with Miguel = 3V = 3 x 4.5 = $13.5

Amount of money with Brendan = 3V – 4 =  $13.5 – 4 = $9.5

Hence Amount of money with Vincenzo , Miguel and Brendan is $4.5 , $13.5 and $9.5 respectively.

Does addition in the whole numbers have the cancellation property.
Ivanshal [37]

Answer:

Although the cancellation law holds for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of real and complex numbers (with the single exception of multiplication by zero and division of zero by another number), there are a number of algebraic structures where the cancellation law is not valid.

Which shows the expression factored correctly? 16x^2-25
REY [17]
Lets take a look at the options first.
option 1 and option 4 are not possible as (8x) (8x) would give us 64x^2, which is not what we want.

we’re left with option 2 & 3. when expanded, option 2 will look like :
16x^2 - 40x - 10x + 25
= 16x^2 - 50x + 25

however, we do not want the 50x. so the answer is option 3, (4x-5) (4x+5)

if you don’t want to find the answer using expanding, there is also another method of expanding.

(a+b)^2 = a^2 - b^2

in this case, 16x^2 will be a^2 and 25 will be b^2. not sure whether you’ve learn this but yea.
