Jim spends three years in graduate school training to become a clinical social worker. His first job out of graduate school is,

in actuality, horrible. Briefly, Jim worries that he has made the wrong choice for his career. But he quickly changes his mind and decides that, although it isn't his dream job, the position is not that bad after all. The most likely social psychological explanation for this attitude change is that
a. Jim has engaged in a rational reanalysis of his situation.
b. Jim's need to justify the effort he put into his traininghas altered his attitude to be more favorable toward the job.
c. Jim's colleagues must have persuaded him that the job was satisfactory.
d. Jim has yielded to the social influence of his colleagues.

Answer:    B. Jim's need to justify the effort he put into his training has altered his attitude to be more favourable toward the job

Explanation:  A rational analysis would probably lead Jim to find out that it is better not to do a job that he does not love, despite his time spent studying for that job, but also, maybe that same analysis would lead him to realise that it is better to do something than do it again study, invest new time for learning, etc.

Jim simply saw all the facts, realised that he had spent years learning for the job and now wants to justify the effort he has put into it. Therefore, he changed his attitude towards the job.

Which saying best describes the greenhouse effect's impact on our planet?
Shkiper50 [21]

Answer:

When you stand in sunlight, you feel warmer than when you are in shadow, so you can feel that light from the sun carries energy that can warm an object—you. You can feel the warming effect, even if the sunlight comes through a window before it hits you. In the same way, the soil, pots, plants, and so on inside a greenhouse, like the one pictured here, are warmed by the sunlight that shines through its transparent walls and roof. The air inside the greenhouse is then warmed by contact with the warm objects. If the door and ventilation windows are closed, the warm air can’t escape, so the temperature of everything in the greenhouse goes up.
